Hanoi - Day 2

Today started at 7.30am where we jumped on the bus to Visit Ho Chi Minh's Mauseleum. We were very excited that we would get to see his embalmed body, however, it seemed as of 8 million other people had the same idea. We decided to head back later and move onto the Ethnology Museum.
Vietnam has over 54 different ethnic groups and we got to walk around the Museum looking at the various groups and how they lived. I have pictured some of the houses below.

After the Ethnology Museum, we headed of to Hoa Loa Prison which was used by a number of different groups before and during the Vietnam War. This was a pretty powerful place with confronting sights.

Prisoners were kept like this 24/7. They would have to eat and relieve themselves in this spot.

To behead prisoners.

We then travelled to the Literature museum which recognised the first University professors of Vietnam. Students still come here to say prayers before tests or Exams. Lunch was served at KOTO restaurant which is a restaurant designed to train street kids to be chefs. Amazing food!!!

We then finally managed to Visit Ho Chi Minh, however, didn't get to see his body. We visited his palace, houses and his pet fish.

His palace.

His house he preferred to live In, behind his palace.

I have thrown in some photos below of the night markets, teachers and some parents out for dinner and our hotel at night.
